India is now on Google Street View (updated)

For a couple of months now we’ve seen images from inside businesses pop up on Google Street View India. Google announced today they have teamed up with the Archaeological Survey of India and the Ministry of Culture to take images of over a 100 Indian monuments.

Qutub Minar in New Delhi is the tallest historical tower in India at 238 feet.

Update: The 100 heritage sites are not yet online. Google announced they will start to take those photos next week. What is available today are some Business photos from palaces and monuments. It will take Google a couple more months to add the 100 heritage sites to Street View. This will include the Taj Mahal, Khajuraho, Qutab Minar (which is already online as you can see above, so maybe more images from there?) and Ajanta and Ellora caves.

This is the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur.

And here’s an image from outside the Taj Lake Palace.

More places are coming. We’re guessing Taj Mahal and Lotus Temple will be on Google Street View pretty soon. So far there are no images from streets in India though. That might not be available until next year.
