“Despite being designed to have a high earthquake resistance, a seven-story reinforced concrete (RC) building in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, toppled over due to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which registered the maximum 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale.” Japan News (Jan 13, 2024)

Google claim this Street View image of Kokura Castle in Japan was taken in January 2007. If that is accurate it would make it one of the earliest Google Maps Street View images ever published.

I’ve posted something similar before, but I found out about it:
https://www.streetviewfun.com/2025/couldnt-hide-it/
The date is 2017, which is the year the Gen4 Alto was introduced. This means that Google may not have had knowledge of the vehicle and may have deleted the wrong one.

Street View in Japan was launched in 2008, but is no longer fully available due to privacy concerns.
This is because the Street View car’s high-mounted cameras capture images of the inside of homes.
Google lowered the camera height and re-shot the images, and all previous ones were made private.
(However, all of the re-shot were also made private). But there is a way to see the old images by using a direct link. Example:

This is the higher camera.

Incidentally, it seems that for some reason, Street View from 2008 was released around 2021. However, it was quickly deleted.
