My guess is that the google car got in the way of what he was taking a photo of. Maybe his hand and the bag got in the way aswell…

German street view
Sightwalk.de offer a similar service as Google Maps StreetView in Germany. Not too many images available yet, but there are some from Köln and Berlin. Google Maps StreetView is not yet available in Germany. Next couple of countries rumoured to be covered by StreetView is Canada and Denmark.

Fogged up
Google car appears to start the day out at this gas station with a fogged camera. As a result many of the streetVeiw images of the roads around the southern tip of New Zealands North Island have a blurred section. 🙁
